Last year I finally made the jump from TypePad (where I’d blogged for two years) to WordPress. One of the reasons for the change was because the design flexibility offered by WP.
Since switching though, I’ve tried a couple different themes- neither of which I was totally happy with. So recently I’ve been on the hunt for a new theme. After some tweaking and a little improvised code hacking…
I think I finally have a design I’m happy with (at least for a while).
A few of the things I’m excited about in this new theme:
- easy to read text (I liked the last theme, but dark backgrounds make reading hard)
- easy to find RSS links and search fields
- clean & simple design
I’d love to hear what you think.

I think the new theme is a good step in the right direction. The warm color scheme is pleasing and the layout is minimalistic, giving it a uncluttered feel. The slight off-white background with the dots is a nice touch. Your sidebar, with the archive, ads, subscribe, Twitterpics, Comments and Life Stream stuff, feels a little out of place with the rest of the site. Unlike the main blog portion it is a little cluttered, and more so, it extends very far down the page. Perhaps you can shorten it or make a second side bar. Also, it looks like you use either an Arial or Roman font through out; you might want to consider and Garmond or Helvetica base — these have slight larger lower case letters and slightly more spacing between characters making it easier to read on the screen.
Hope this helps.
Love it! Thanks for such insightful suggestions… they're very good and I'll definitely consider.
Thanks!
No problem. My work requires me to think a lot about not only the content of a page but the read-ability and layout. Its kind of fun sometimes!
I notice you already dropped some of the stuff off your side bar. Good choice!
I like this new design…I like the colors, good choice bro.
